S K Nadig, well- known among Kannadigas for his cartoons over decades, was born in Shimoga in 1928. His first cartoon appeared in 'Minimag' in 1948. His cartoons have been published by 'Shankar's Weekly' Caravan.

He has worked as an assistant editor with 'Chitragupt' magazine. Apart from skits from he has published novels 'Bannada Chitte', ‘Kanasinolagondu Kanasu' and 'Kanneshwara Rama'. The last novel has been made into a film in Kannada and Hindi.

Nadig, retired as Deputy Accounts officer in the Mysore Paper Mills, Bhadravathi. He is one of the founders of Karnataka Cartoonists' Association and a recipient of Karnataka Patrika Academy Award. At present he is contributing pocket cartoons to Udayavani, a Kannada daily.

His cartoons characters say less, but convey more. It is this understatement that makes him popular.
