Chandrakanth, is a man of many parts. He works with equal felicity in several media of communication, and is equally at ease in his roles as a Cartoonist, Journalist, Writer and Documentary Film-maker.

Chandrakanth began his media career as a Journalist, and contributed articles, cartoons and photo features to leading newspapers and periodicals in Kannada for over 15 years. At one point he worked as Press Information Officer to former Chief Minister of Karnataka, Ramkrishna Hegde.

He was secretary of the Karnataka Cartoonists Association for three years, and is now a trustee of the Indian Institute of Cartoonists. He was honoured by the Karnataka Cartoonists Association in 2003 for his service in the field of cartooning.

While he now continues to draw cartoon as a hobby, Chandrakanth, now concentrates more on documentary films, which have brought International recognition. He has done over 300 documentary films on a wide range of subjects. His latest film on Hampi, was shown at four international film festivals in the US. The episode Hennu Mannu directed by him, from the series Ta.Ra.Su.

Avara Sanna Kathegalu (Short Stories by Ta.Ra.Su.) was the first Kannada television short film to be sent to the Canadian International Annual Film Festival, 1991. his earlier short film Victor had won star merit at the Canadian International Annual Festival, 1985.

Chandrakanth has written and produced over 200 hours of programmes on a variety of subjects for All India Radio and Doordoarshan. He is an approved Director for Documentary Corporation and State Information Department.
